Do you remember the last time you felt truly at peace with yourself and the world in general? Since feeling at peace is a state of mind, are there things you do to help you feel more accepting and satisfied with whatever is going on?

I feel so out of wack if I have things to do but nothing gets accomplished. Sitting around reading? Accomplishment. Sitting around staring at the ceiling? Accomplishment. Completely procrastinating? Accomplishment? Running in circles and it STILL doesn't work?... No.

So I generally feel content and peaceful, I'm not talking about feeling one-on-one with the universe/god/whatever, but I don't feel like I'm going against the flow of things. I mean, feeling one-on-one with the universe, completely in balance takes a little something extra (I generally feel that way right before I go to sleep and I'm thinking of something that makes me happy).

It really is the feeling of not going anywhere that drives me insane. So all I have to do is stay away from those situations and I'm pretty good the rest of the time. Even hardships and stuff aren't all that bad as long as they're taking you from point a to point b, because you'll come out of it eventually. If you're running in circles, its a sort of chaos that just isn't cool.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Nichole. Frustration (running in circles) is certainly not a peaceful feeling and I can understand. Everyone goes through hard times, but feeling like you're not moving forward can definitely make one feel less than peaceful.

I think it's great you can feel peaceful wherever you're at, Snok. I've gotten to the point that people who may appear rude or discourteous don't really bother me at all, but I have to admit that really loud people can get to me after awhile, but I'm getting better at even toning them out.

Very interesting question L.A. I'm at peace with how my life is going and where it's headed but I wouldn't say I'm truly peaceful all the time. My personality type is one that I'm always wanting to move forward, achieve, not sit around, etc. This can be a good and not so good thing. It's good in that I get things done, get off my butt and do some amazing things and go after the goals/dreams I really want in life. It's bad in that I tend to be in a wired, driven state a lot.

The key for me is to balance the getting off my butt with peaceful practises like meditation, exercise, getting to the beach and practising living mindfully. That way I get the best of both worlds. I'm not at the point of being peaceful all the time, it's more like moments of peacefulness throughout the day and week.

Your question got me thinking. Thanks for that!

Thanks for your thoughts, Sami. The reason I posted is I was thinking about how often, or even when, I was last truly at peace. I tend toward more toward the type a personality and wanting, not necessarily material things, but accomplishing more or going in another direction, instead of just being completely at peace in the moment. I think I understood your post and could definitely identify with some of the things you said. Meditation does help me bring it down a notch or two.

Yep, I'm definitely a Type A personality too. It's a running joke in my family that I'm the one running around getting super organized while Mum and Dad are always like a pair of stoned hippies looking for their keys! I truly don't know how I could be their child! Wink

I always feel at peace when I lie on the couch and watch tv or something. I don't know why. It's a strange feeling.[/url]
