Post your May Challenge here! |

From a previous post by Our Leader:

What new habit will you form this month? Use the power of the group to motivate you to success!
Remember:
1. One habit at a time is best.
2. Small goals are more successful in these challenges -- don't bite off too much at once.
3. If you post every day to this forum, you'll be more successful -- more accountability = better motivation.
Good luck everyone! |

My May goal will be to make a financial accomplishment daily. It sounds a little off; but I'll be looking for a summer job through May and I want money to be my summer goal so I can make a summer trip to Paris and see my love. I haven't been able to get a steady full load of work hours yet in my life and I would love to do that this summer. I feel the need to distract myself and make it go by fast, as well as reap some financial benefits. Next semester I'll be living on my own for the first time and I would really like a financial buffer as well, so that is another motivator.
This goal will be accomplished in a number of ways... Either by doing financial research daily, looking for jobs, beefing my resume, updating my budget, and if nothing else, I will force myself to do a paid post on my blog (which I secretly detest doing).

May Habit to build:
Exercise Monday to Friday, working up to 30mins cardio by the end of the month. I have to start at about 15minutes I think, I'm out of shape, since the exercise has been sporadic for months and I really need to rebuild this habit. Sheesh, this time last year I could do a full spin class.
I'll be doing Step Aerobics. Maybe not the latest "in" thing, but an excellent workout I think. It really gets me sweating. Weekends are rest days, unless I just really fancy doing a session.

hello, i am new in this but i've been reading this blog for some time now.
First i would like to tell somethings about my life, i moved last october from my country Costa Rica, where i lived with my family, was a vegetarian and used to go jogging 3 times per week, to Germany, to live by myself and begin a master degree, it was my first real winter, i was so cold to go jogging and i wanted to taste german food, which is full of meat, so i gained 5 or 6 kilos, was tired all time and had skin problems like never before. But now the winter is over, after my first semester break i decided to be myself again, i started my second semester in april, since the 1° of april i had not eat any meat, (my skin is clear and healthy again! ) i also take the time to actually cook instead of wrap a sandwich or cookies or chocolates, also my new roommate is a very healthy Vietnam girl, even when she is not a vegetarian and wake up at noon, we plan our meals and buy lots of fruits and vegetables.
So i feel really happy that i made successfully my first step, also last week i decided to star jogging again, i did it last week, but this is actually my challenge for May:
-go jogging at least 3 times per week per 45 minutes like i used to.

I had this in mind already last month, but I only wanted to do one at a time. My goal for the May challenge is to wake up before 0800 during the work week (e.g Mon-Fri). I'm going to leave my April Challenge in my Sig to remind me to avoid hitting the snooze button while getting up early.

Daily Yoga |
|
I slipped on this one last month while I was focusing on bringing lunch and snacks to work, so I'm going to pick it up again. Of the challenges I've done, daily yoga has been, by far, the most beneficial. I just finished a quick practice, so I'm off to a good start.
Love to all, especially the newbies,
MfC

3 Goals |
|
I am going to go against advice and set 3 goals instead of 1:
Daily exercise: Yoga every morning + Push Ups (MWF) / Jog (TThSa) (Yoga in the evening is optional)
Professional Development: Read a technical article every morning
Research: Do some work and compile an email to the adviser at the end of the day
I hope to do these tasks and log it in here every evening. (fingers crossed)

I really want to stop struggling with this |
|
There have been good days and bad days, good weeks and bad weeks, but overall, it still isn't a habit. So about the getting up thing.
My ultimate goal is to get up by 5:30, maybe even 5:00, but for now I'll stick to 7:00, which should get me to work at 8:30 (last month's goal). I'll hopefully push that back as the month goes on.
Strategy: I'll have the radio go off at 6:45, the first alarm at 6:55, and the Big Ben (my classic alarm clock with 2 bells) across the room at 7:00. Hopefully I'll learn to get up before Big Ben rings and wakes up the entire house.
2nd strategy: to avoid getting back to bed (that's part of my problem), I'll replace the sweet habit of staying in bed by something almost equally fun: short yoga session and a cup of espresso (homemade).
My second (secondary) goal for the month is to start FLYlady routines again. I've done it once, and as cheezy as it looks, it really works. I hate routines, and I was actually doing these and felt much better. So I'll be taking the Babysteps every day this month.
Wish me luck!

I am going to recommit to my goal from last month: to exercise 30 minutes daily. I partially succeeded last month (19 out of 30) but I feel like I need to keep at this habit until I "get it right," as it's the foundation for everything else in my life.
Most of that exercise is cardio (I walk over my lunch breaks at work), so in an effort to add some flexibility and strength training, I'm going to do a five minute stretch at the end of my walk every day, and do a 20-30 minute strength or flexibility workout three times a week. That workout can supplant the walking, if, for example, it's a bad day out.

My goal for this month is:
Wake up at 5.30 every weekday morning and do 45 minutes of yoga followed by a 30 minutes weights or running session.
I'm giving myself the day off the day after the Champions League final, so I will do this routine a total of 20 times throughout the month.
I'll be popping in here everyday to update on my progress.

Part II - C25K Challenge |
|
My goal for May is to complete weeks 5 - 8 of the C25K Challenge.
I did weeks 1-4 in April. I have not been feeling well the last few days so I haven't been to the gym since Sunday, but I have high hopes for May!

look after myself |
|
For the last 6 years I've been living in a relationship where I always came last. However, now I want to start looking after myself. For the May challenge I want to start with a small and probably (some of you might think) unworthy thing.
I want to cleanse and attend to my face every evening before I go to bed and every morning before I go to work.

In May 2008, I intend to develop the habit to wash the dishes and clean the kitchen counters each night before going to bed.
